Vietnam Pre-Arrival Form Requirements

Vietnam Pre-Arrival Form

Before you start filling in the Vietnam Pre-Arrival Registration Form, it helps to have all required information in front of you. This page covers every piece of information and documentation you need to complete the form without interruption.

Documents and Information You Need

The Vietnam pre-arrival form is data-entry only – no document uploads are required. However, all information must accurately match the documents you carry when traveling. Have the following ready before opening the portal at prearrival.immigration.gov.vn:

  • Passport with at least 6 months validity from your Vietnam arrival date
  • Visa or visa exemption details (type, number, issue date, expiry date)
  • Confirmed flight booking with flight number and departure city/airport
  • Accommodation details – full name and address of your hotel or host
  • Email address to receive QR code confirmation

Passport Requirements

Your passport must meet the following conditions:

  • Validity: Minimum 6 months remaining from the date of entry into Vietnam
  • Blank pages: At least one blank page for the entry stamp
  • Condition: No significant damage that obscures the photo or data page

Emergency passports (12-page booklets) may be rejected for e-visa applications. If traveling on an emergency passport, verify entry requirements before booking flights.

Visa Requirements Before Filling the Form

Your entry authorization must be arranged before or alongside completing the pre-arrival form. The form asks you to specify your visa type:

  • E-visa holders: Enter your e-visa number, issue date, and expiry date. Apply for the e-visa at evisa.gov.vn (USD 25 single entry / USD 50 multiple entry)
  • Visa exemption travelers: Select “visa exemption” and your country. US, UK, Australian, Canadian, and most EU passport holders currently qualify for visa-free stays of 45-90 days
  • Temporary residence card holders: Enter card number and validity details

If you are unsure about your visa status, see our eligible travelers page or check the visa-free countries guide.

Accommodation Information Required

The form requires your first accommodation address in Vietnam. This should be:

  • The full name and address of your hotel or guesthouse
  • If staying with family or friends: their full residential address
  • If your accommodation changes: use the first place you will stay

Vietnamese authorities may reference this information during your stay, particularly if your visa type requires declaration of your lodging location.

Flight Details Required

You will need:

  • Flight number of your inbound flight to Vietnam (e.g., VN211, EK393)
  • Departure location – the city or country of your last embarkation point
  • Intended departure date from Vietnam

Use your confirmed booking details. If you have a transit flight, use the last leg’s flight number arriving into Vietnam.

Group and Family Declarations

One pre-arrival form can cover an entire travel group. When completing the form:

  • Start with the primary traveler’s details
  • Add each additional group member using the “Add Traveler” function
  • Each person’s details must match their individual passport
  • All group members share the same QR code confirmation

For families traveling with children, enter each child’s passport details separately within the group declaration.

Submitting Within the Required Timeframe

The form must be submitted within 72 hours before arrival in Vietnam. The recommended approach is to complete it 2-3 days before your departure flight to allow time for corrections if needed. For more on timing, see Vietnam pre-arrival form processing time.

After Submission – What to Bring

At the airport immigration counter, present:

  • Your physical passport
  • Your QR code (on phone screen or printed copy)
  • Your visa or visa exemption document (if applicable)

Enter the full hotel name and address as shown on booking platforms. The confirmation number is not required.

What if my passport expires during my stay?
